On 23 November 2024, the 14th Rendez-vous Bundesplatz came to an end with the “Volare” programme. Around 620,900 visitors were amazed by the colourful scenes from the world of Swiss birds this year. The organisers are extremely satisfied with the audience response.
Whether it was swallow parents feeding, a kingfisher conducting a bird choir or a golden eagle gliding over the Matterhorn: Switzerland’s birds took centre stage at this year’s Rendez-vous Bundesplatz light and sound spectacle. For five weeks, the parliament façade was illuminated three times an evening in the vibrant colours of nature – accompanied by cheerful twittering and lively music. One of the audience’s favourite scenes: the heart-warming mating dance of the cranes to the sounds of Edith Piaf’s “Non, je ne regrette rien”.
“This year’s programme was particularly engaging for people of all ages. Many thanked us for the fantastic spectacle and we were able to build on the success of the years before 2020,” says organiser Brigitte Roux. Children and parents, couples and friends exchanged ideas about which bird was on the façade of the parliament several times. This was done entirely in the spirit of this year’s content partner, the Sempach Ornithological Institute, which is committed to promoting knowledge about the local bird world.
